Following a workout program like P90X

We have all seen infomercials for fitness products and programs but do we really need them. I have recently been working out with a friend of mine who is a doctor who has had some locum doctor jobs near me. We have been doing P90X which is a program designed by Tony Robins of Beach body. The problem with working out for many is motivation. The desire to look and feel good sometimes is just not enough to get you going back to the gym. Following a program like P90X can help with motivation by giving you a goal. The program lasts 90 days so you know there is an end to it, a light at the end of the tunnel. This can be helpful to know that you will not have to do this forever and that after the program you can reduce your gym-time to maintain the progress that you have made. P90X also help to motivate you by testing you level of fitness before the start of the program with a fitness test and by taking photos of your self every 30 days throughout the 90 program. This help you to see the progress that you have made as often we do make progress but it goes un noticed because the change is slow. You need to look back over a long period to really appreciate the progress that you have made.
However, P90X is hard. I am sure that most reader of this blog could manage it but it is certainly not for everyone. By doing P90X you will be committing yourself you working out for well over an hour and a half 6 days a week for three months. It is a big commitment and I am sure that most people are not able to keep to it 100%. Missing one or 2 workouts is ok but missing anymore can be very demoralising knowing that you have fallen behind the program. This then defeats the object of following the program is the first place. So be careful if you are about to start a fitness program as an aid to your motivation. Make sure you choose the right program that you can cope with or it may end up having the opposite effect.
